    Ahoy there!

So much for trying to post regularly. It’s hard to find things to share when you have nothing to show since your projects are still unreleased / under NDA (non-disclosure agreement). This one I can show you though. I’m working on a nautical-themed collection. I already made one last year: May 2013   I’m not really happy with it, though. The color palette is all over the place. So I decided to start from scratch and make a new version with a more thought-out, more cohesive, and less primary color palette. March 2014 [pinit]   See what a more structured color palette can do? It instantly changes and dictates the…

The circus is coming to town

To make good on my promise a few posts ago about more frequent show and tell of work, here’s what I’m currently working on. [pinit]   I’m trying to veer away from the bright colors I usually use to make my work a little more sophisticated in terms of intended retail audience. Less Walmart, and more Paperchase. Or to put it in a local context, less Baclaran and more Greenbelt. Haha what.

    London calling

One of my goals this year is to update more regularly on this blog. I wish I could be more like some of my favorite illustrators who can get away with just posting pictures of what they’re working on and pass it off as a blog entry with hardly any text. But I’m a bit of a blabbermouth online and it’s always nice to have things in context, hence my lengthy blog entries (with weeks going by in between updates). Quality over quantity, I say. But here’s my attempt at (hopefully) regular show and tell of new/recent/ongoing work. I’ll still have my occasional lengthy entries every now and then, but…

Sunday Snippets: New work sneak peeks + 2013 holiday gift tags in action

I’ve been busy– busy behind the scenes and working on new stuff and collections for 2014. Let me show you a few sneak peeks 🙂 * * * Check out some of my 2013 holiday gift tags in action! This is how I did my Christmas wrapping this year: I used brown paper, red and blue printed ribbon, and my 2013 gift tags printed on matte photo paper. I used PhotoLast Professional Matte Photo Paper which I randomly came across a few years ago in Office Warehouse: I cannot rave enough about this paper. It’s priced reasonably (P250~? Maybe less) and the quality is amayyyyyzing. I print on it using…

Make Art That Sells, Week 5: Party Paper

Almost a month has passed since my last blog post about Lilla Rogers’ Make Art That Sells e-course. Sorry about that! Getting back on track now. Week 5, the final week, was all about Party Paper— that means paper plates, napkins, gift bags, gift wrap, and all other paper things related to parties and celebrations. I was looking forward to this market as I think my work translates to this industry very well. I was expecting a brief that involved birthday balloons, cake, confetti, and all other colorful party fare. I did not expect at all the brief that was thrown our way: to design a party plate and napkin…
