Don Bosco Press commissioned me for illustrations for a 2024 calendar commemorating the 200th anniversary of a dream St. John Bosco had in 1824.
John, then 9 years old, had a prophetic dream that planted the seed of his life's mission: to educate the youth by kindness, not by force.
I was thrilled to be able to illustrate whimsical, anthropomorphic animals within a religious project.
The animals were part of young John Bosco's dream, representing vice turning into virtue.
In the dream, a man dressed in white garments appeared to him, along with a lady. He later identified them as Jesus and Mary. This dream would prove to be his guiding force later in life in his vocation as a priest.
